Thomas Muller is looking forward to facing former teammate Robert Lewandowski in the group stage of this season's Champions League.

Bayern Munich and Barcelona have been drawn together for the second season running, with Lewandowski set to return to the Allianz Arena not long after departing Die Roten.

The Polish striker made his intentions of leaving Bayern for Barça very clear earlier this summer, eventually sealing a €50m move to Camp Nou that stunned chiefs in Bavaria due to the Catalans' financial woes.

Taking to social media, Muller dusted off his old 'Lewan-goal-ski' pun and shared his excitement at such a reunion.

"What a nice draw for all football fans!" Muller began with a grin.

"Mr Lewan-goal-ski, see you soon in Munich...let's go, let's rock the Champions League season."

Bayern and Barcelona will be joined in Group C by Inter and Viktoria Plzen.

Bayern have made a fast start to the new season in the absence of Lewandowski, with Sadio Mane leading the line in four impressive wins in the last few weeks.

Barcelona opened their new campaign with a dismal 0-0 draw at home to Rayo Vallecano, but notched their first win with a 4-1 hammering of Real Sociedad last week, with Lewandowski grabbing a brace for the Blaugrana - his first official goals since making the move to La Liga.
