Real Madrid will try to continue their superb recent form in the Madrid derby against Atletico Madrid on Saturday evening. Los Blancos know that there can be no mistakes in the pursuit of Barcelona at La Liga's summit.

Carlo Ancelotti's side have won their last five games in all competitions including matches in the Champions League and the FIFA Club World Cup. They have won their last two in the league but there is still an eight-point gap between them and Barça.

There are a couple of fresh injuries for Ancelotti to contend with, so here is the team he could pick to try and take all three points on Saturday evening.

Real Madrid predicted lineup vs Atletico Madrid (4-3-3)

GK: Thibaut Courtois - He may have made a seriously horrendous error against Liverpool but Real still secured a hefty first-leg advantage and Ancelotti is not going to drop his number one goalkeeper.

RB: Dani Carvajal - Impressive once again against Liverpool, Carvajal is one of the trusted players Ancelotti relies upon in games of this magnitude.

CB: Eder Militao - Real Madrid have got a settled centre-back partnership now and while there have been times when he has looked too erratic, Eder Militao has shown he can be effective in both boxes.

CB: Antonio Rudiger - Even with Real Madrid not at the top of La Liga, Rudiger's decision to leave Chelsea looks wise given the Blues' current state of chaos. He is crucial to Los Blancos at the moment and will keep his place.

LB: Nacho Fernandez - One of the changes Ancelotti is forced to make. David Alaba is facing a spell on the sidelines so Nacho must now prove why he should have played at left back in the first place.

CM: Eduardo Camavinga - The French midfielder is becoming a crucial utility player for Ancelotti but he is more than that. He will be important in this match.

CM: Aurelien Tchouameni - Returning from the flu that kept him out against Liverpool, Tchouameni will take his place at the base of the midfield to dictate the tempo of the game in Real Madrid's favour.

CM: Toni Kroos - Another returning player, Kroos could only manage a very brief substitute appearance against Liverpool after previously being ruled out but he is expected to start this one.

RW: Federico Valverde - With Kroos and Tchouameni coming back into the team and Rodrygo out injured, Ancelotti will push the versatile and effective Valverde forward.

ST: Karim Benzema - Wonderful again against Liverpool, Benzema needs very little introduction or justification for being in the starting lineup. He will lead the line for Ancelotti.

LW: Vinicius Jr - He is in a wonderful patch of form right now and almost looks to be the main guy at Real Madrid. After a torrent of racist abuse in recent weeks and months, he will take immense pleasure from scoring against Atletico Madrid.
