Atletico Madrid have their work cut out for them when they head to Estadio Santiago Bernabeu on Saturday evening to take on their cross-city rivals Real Madrid.

The Rojoblancos are not having a very good season, sitting ten points behind Real Madrid and out of the title race. They are battling the likes of Real Sociedad and Real Betis for a Champions League qualification place and they finished bottom of their UCL group against the odds.

Many say form goes out the window for a derby, though, so here is the team Diego Simeone might call upon to get a hard-fought three points against Real Madrid.

Atletico Madrid predicted lineup vs Real Madrid (4-4-2)

GK: Jan Oblak - Probably the most consistent player in the Atletico Madrid squad, Oblak faces the likes of Vinicius Junior and Karim Benzema in his search for a clean sheet against Real Madrid.

RB: Nahuel Molina - The Argentine has been a consistent if unspectacular performer for Atleti this season but will be up against the electric Vinicius out wide.

CB: Stefan Savic - He's not a popular player outside of Atletico Madrid circles but Savic goes straight back into the team after serving his suspension. He will try to lead his defence through a tough game.

CB: Mario Hermoso - The main aim for Hermoso here is not to get sent off. The Spaniard has seen red twice in his ten La Liga games this season and will be against some fast players.

LB: Reinildo - A slightly surprising signing in the January window of 2022, Reinildo has been a very solid performer at left-back for Atleti and is very reliable.

RM: Marcos Llorente - One of the most versatile players in Europe, Llorente is expected to line up on the right wing against his former club.

CM: Pablo Barrios - 19-year-old Barrios is set to start in midfield after becoming a regular part of the first team. A league match against Real Madrid will be a serious test of his abilities.

CM: Koke - Another consistent performer in midfield who will need to show more on Saturday than he has been doing in the season so far. His leadership will be crucial to any result Atleti may get here.

LM: - Yannick Carrasco - There never seems to be a time where Carrasco isn't linked with or looking for a move away form whatever club he is at, but if he wants to leave Atleti in the summer he needs to impress on the left wing.

ST: Antoine Griezmann - The Frenchman has been posting decent numbers this season with seven goals and seven assists in the league. He will be looking to rise to the occasion on Saturday.

ST: Alvaro Morata - Simeone is expected to bring Morata into the starting lineup for this one as he hopes the Spaniard can net against his former club.
