90min is the home of the PFA Vertu Motors Fans’ Player of the Month Award for the 2022/23 season.

Each month, you can vote for your favourite players across five divisions of English football, for the chance to win incredible prizes, including the opportunity to present the award to the winning player.

Your League Two nominees for December are...


1. Matt Smith (Salford City)

Salford recovered from a dismal November with a superb December, and veteran striker Matt Smith helped them end the month in style.

After scoring the opener in a 1-1 draw at home to Barrow on Boxing Day, he grabbed an incredible first-half hat-trick in a 4-1 thrashing of Grimsby three days later.

2. Kyle Wootton (Stockport County)

Stockport's march away from the relegation zone and into play-off contention was helped by a pair of braces from star forward Kyle Wootton.

After opening December with two goals in a 5-0 mauling of Hartlepool, he closed the month with both of County's goals in their 2-0 win at Walsall.

3. Will Collar (Stockport County)

Sticking with Stockport, Will Collar was their other standout performer last month.

While he grabbed the headlines for a phenomenal hat-trick against Charlton Athletic in the FA Cup, the midfielder also put in some top displays in League Two.

Collar rounded off the scoring in that 5-0 triumph over Hartlepool and grabbed an assist to boot, while he also scored in a 2-0 win against Crewe. He ended the year with an assist for Wootton at Walsall.

4. Sam Hoskins (Northampton Town)

Northampton's promotion bid was stunted by an inconsistent December, but winger Sam Hoskins did his best to help them maintain their pace with three goal contributions in four games.

He secured an assist for Sam Sherring in a 2-1 win at home to Carlisle before grabbing goals in a 1-1 draw at Mansfield and 2-1 defeat to Swindon.

5. Carl Piergianni (Stevenage)

Stevenage centre-back Carl Piergianni was monstrous at both ends during December.

He helped the Boro keep three clean sheets before scoring a match-winning double at home to Crawley.

6. Owen Moxon (Carlisle United)

Carlisle midfielder Owen Moxon helped the Cumbrians keep their hopes of reaching League One with a fine December.

He assisted Ryan Edmondson's opener in a 1-1 draw with Sutton in their first game of the month, before grabbing a goal and further assist in a 3-0 win at Crewe in their final fixture.
