Last season's FA Cup finalists Manchester United face a tough test in the quarter-finals when they welcome Liverpool to Old Trafford on Sunday.

The FA Cup is Erik ten Hag's side final chance to win a trophy this season and, having lost to Manchester City in the 2022/23 final, the Dutch coach will want to go one better. Being drawn against Liverpool is far from ideal but he will have learned from the 0-0 draw earlier in the season.

The Red Devils have finally received some good injury news as Rasmus Hojlund is expected to make his return, while Harry Maguire and Aaron Wan-Bissaka have been training and making good progress.

Here's the Man Utd team Ten Hag may pick against Liverpool.

GK: Andre Onana - Ten Hag likely would have stuck with Onana for this match despite it being in the cup, but news of Altay Bayindir's injury means the Cameroonian will definitely start against Liverpool.

RB: Diogo Dalot - With Wan-Bissaka expected to be fit again soon, Dalot could find himself playing on the left. That would be a shame considering how good a season he is having, but left-back is where he will be needed most.

CB: Raphael Varane - The Frenchman has ended up having a very strong season but may still be on the move in the summer. The recent links to Everton's Jarrad Branthwaite suggest Man Utd are planning for life without Varane.

CB: Harry Maguire - Jonny Evans is out injured and Victor Lindelof is needed elsewhere, so Maguire should get a start. He has been poor when fit following his serious injury and now is not the time to make any more mistakes.

LB: Victor Lindelof - If Wan-Bissaka is deemed fit enough then the back four could be shaken up, but Lindelof is likely to fill in at left-back with both Luke Shaw and Tyrell Malacia sidelined.

CM: Casemiro - Was among Man Utd's worst performers in the 2-0 win over Everton last weekend, with the Brazilian seemingly unable to keep hold of the ball. He won't get away with that sort of performance against Merseyside's dominant force.

CM: Kobbie Mainoo - The 18-year-old has been called up to the England Under-21s for the first time and the fact he was in the conversation to be in the senior squad for March says a lot about how impressive he has been.

RW: Alejandro Garnacho - His direct running and desire to get into the box led to two penalties against Everton. Garnacho should be back on the right wing now thanks to Hojlund's expected return.

AM: Bruno Fernandes - His penalty against Everton made him Man Utd's all-time leading goalscorer from the spot. Fernandes also completed more passes and created more chances than anyone else.

LW: Marcus Rashford - He may be having a terrible season but Rashford has a good record against Liverpool with six goals and an assist in 16 games and a lot of poor performances will be forgiven if he can score on Sunday. Ten Hag has rubbished on rumours of Rashford leaving for PSG.

ST: Rasmus Hojlund - Man Utd have certainly missed Hojlund, who was in excellent form before his injury. Ten Hag spoke confidently about his chances of playing against Liverpool and Man Utd should be a better team thanks to his return.
