Manchester United enjoyed a cathartic evening at Old Trafford on Wednesday as they produced an exciting performance to triumph 2-1 over Chelsea.

There were still clear areas to improve, such as midfield solidity and chance conversion, but it felt like a step in the right direction for Erik ten Hag's side. Earlier in the season, following that up with a home game against Bournemouth would have been ideal but the Cherries have found some good form in recent weeks and will not be easy to beat.

A raft of important players remain out injured for Man Utd and the games are coming thick and fast, so Ten Hag will likely need to shuffle the pack once again at Old Trafford on Saturday.

Here is the Man Utd team that Ten Hag could pick when they host Bournemouth in the Premier League.

GK: Andre Onana - Made a huge save from Nicolas Jackson on Wednesday night when the Senegalese forward was through and started several attacks with his passing.

RB: Aaron Wan-Bissaka - There is a chance Ten Hag sticks with Diogo Dalot here but there are a lot of games to play and Bournemouth have a fleet of pacy wingers. Wan-Bissaka could be under a lot of pressure at Old Trafford.

CB: Harry Maguire - It was another big performance from Maguire on Wednesday and incredibly, he is now undroppable at the back.

CB: Jonny Evans - The Northern Irishman came off the bench against Chelsea, proving his fitness. Victor Lindelof went off injured at half-time, while Raphael Varane seems to be out of the game, be that due to fitness or his relationship with Ten Hag.

LB: Luke Shaw - Filled in excellently at centre-back again on Wednesday but Man Utd are a significantly better side when Shaw is the starting left-back.

CM: Sofyan Amrabat - Chelsea's visit was probably Sofyan Amrabat's best display for Man Utd and while fans are desperate to see Kobbie Mainoo start, Ten Hag may want to give Amrabat the chance to build on this performance with Casemiro and Christian Eriksen out injured.

CM: Scott McTominay - A deeply confusing footballer, whatever Ten Hag is asking of McTominay is beneficial to Man Utd as he scored two more goals in midweek. It would be a huge shock if he did not start again.

RW: Alejandro Garnacho - The attack is much harder to choose after Wednesday due to tiredness and the Bayern Munich match coming up. Alejandro Garnacho may be shifted to the right which would see Antony go back to the bench.

AM: Bruno Fernandes - Man Utd's captain is almost always available, regardless of the various niggles and twinges he may be carrying.

LW: Marcus Rashford - Having been dropped to the bench after a terrible run of form, Ten Hag will now want to see if it has given the Englishman some fresh impetus.

ST: Rasmus Hojlund - It was another agonising night for Hojlund against Chelsea given he largely played well and was in the right positions, but still didn't get that first goal. Perhaps this game will be the one.
