Manchester United came from a goal behind to record an emphatic 6-2 victory over Roma at Old Trafford and all but book their place in the Europa League final.

United hit the front with just nine minutes on the clock as Paul Pogba and Edinson Cavani combined brilliantly to allow Bruno Fernandes the chance to slot home - a chance he never looked like missing.

The Red Devils' lead lasted little more than five minutes as Pogba was adjudged to have handled the ball in the area, with Lorenzo Pellegrini stepping up to slot home the resulting penalty.

Just ten minutes before half-time the game was completely turned on its head as former Manchester City frontman Edin Dzeko tapped home following a brilliant team move, grabbing Roma's second away goal of the tie.

Just minutes after the interval United's lethal trio of Pogba, Fernandes and Cavani combined yet again as the latter powered a sumptuous finish into the top corner, and Cavani doubled his tally for the night midway through the second half to fire United into a 3-2 lead.

The home side were handed a glorious chance to extend their advantage as Cavani was hacked down in the area, with Fernandes stepping up to double his tally for the night and make the score 4-2 to United, before Pogba bagged United's fifth with a superb header.

There was just time for substitute Mason Greenwood to get his name on the scoresheet as United came from a goal behind to romp to a 6-2 victory.

That's the match highlights out of the way, now to those Manchester United player ratings...

MANCHESTER UNITED PLAYER RATINGS

1. Goalkeeper & defenders

David de Gea (GK) - 6/10 - Kept his place in United's Europa League starting XI. Absolutely nothing he could do about either of the Roma strikes and wasn't given much else to do other than pick the ball out of his net.

Aaron Wan-Bissaka (RB) - 6/10 -
Produced a terrible throw-in which cost United possession in the build-up to Roma's equaliser. Did his best to venture forward and actually had a couple of shots on goal.

Victor Lindelof (CB) - 4/10 -
Absolutely ran ragged by the Roma frontline at times and found himself being pulled into the wide areas where he just didn't look comfortable in the slightest.

Harry Maguire (CB) - 7/10 - Produced a couple of big clearances and headers as Roma looked to build pressure in the second half.

Luke Shaw (LB) - 7/10 -
Did a lot of good work going forward and used his sweet left foot to good effect with a number of quality balls over the top.

2. Midfielders

Fred (CM) - 5/10 - Caught ball-watching in the build-up to Roma's second of the evening when he should have sensed the danger.

Scott McTominay (CM) - 7/10 -
Did the dirty work with his midfield partner Fred looking a little lost at times. Plenty of energy and kept things simple to give the United superstars their chance to shine.

Paul Pogba (CM) - 9/10 - Showcased exactly what a driving force he can be during United's opener and was very unlucky to concede a penalty just minutes later. Superb header to make the score 5-2 on the night and was pretty much unplayable.

Bruno Fernandes (AM) - 8/10 -
Brilliant finish early on to hand United the lead and was instrumental in carving Roma open as the home side levelled the scoring. Grabbed himself a second from the penalty spot with 20 minutes to play,

3. Forwards

Marcus Rashford (ST) - 6/10 - Showed plenty of willingness to make runs for the good of the team but struggled to impact proceedings as much as his teammates.

Edinson Cavani (ST) - 9/10 - The weight of his pass through to Fernandes can't be underestimated. Should have restored parity for his side shortly before half-time but fired straight at the goalkeeper, though he more than made up for it with his goals in the second half.

4. Substitutes

Mason Greenwood (ST) - 7/10

Nemanja Matic (CM) - N/A

Juan Mata (CM) - N/A
