Leeds United welcome Chelsea to Elland Road in the Premier League on Sunday afternoon.

Both sides emerged from the wreckage of exciting 2-2 draws last weekend with the stench of disappointment lingering over just the one point gained. Leeds held a well-deserved 2-0 lead over Southampton as late as the 71st minute last Saturday but conspired to squander that advantage.

Chelsea had just one more corner kick to defend while leading 2-1 in a spiky London derby against Tottenham on the weekend only to allow Harry Kane a glance towards goal.

Here's everything you need to know about the meeting between this wasteful duo.

Leeds team news

Patrick Bamford's first half departure against Southampton last weekend conjured fretting faces among the travelling contingent but Jesse Marsch was keen to downplay the severity of his tight adductor.

Joe Gelhardt missed the fixture entirely with a dead leg but is expected to be available this weekend.

Liam Cooper and Luis Sinisterra returned to training last week but the former wasn't deemed ready to make the trip to the south coast. As Leeds' skipper continues to build match fitness, he could figure in the upcoming squad.

Both full-backs Luke Ayling and Junior Firpo are 'ahead of schedule' in their recovery from knee injuries although neither is expected to feature as soon as Sunday. Stuart Dallas won't be making any outings this calendar year.

Leeds predicted lineup vs Chelsea

Leeds Starting 11: Meslier; Kristensen, Koch, Llorente, Struijk; Adams, Roca; James, Aaronson, Harrison; Rodrigo.
Bench: Klaesson, Forshaw, Summerville, Bamford, Sinisterra, Fuhr Hjelde, Drameh, Greenwood, Klich.

Chelsea team news

Thomas Tuchel will be without the two midfielders that started last season's Carabao Cup final, Mateo Kovacic and N'Golo Kante, for at least a month. Kante pulled up with a hamstring injury during last Sunday's derby against Spurs while Kovacic had a flare-up of a knee problem he has been nursing.

In a bid to quell the negative reaction, Kovacic has stopped training. Marcos Alonso hasn't been taking to the Cobham pitches either while he attempts to finalise a move to Barcelona.

Chelsea predicted lineup vs Leeds

Chelsea Starting 11: Mendy; Azpilicueta, Silva, Koulibaly; James, Loftus-Cheek, Jorginho, Cucurella; Havertz, Sterling, Mount.
Bench: Arrizabalaga, Broja, Pulisic, Chalobah, Chilwell, Ziyech, Gallagher, Chukwuemeka, Emerson.

Leeds vs Chelsea score prediction

The rivalry between Leeds and Chelsea may not linger over their similarities but the modern iteration of these teams both love to press. Chelsea's fluid front line may not always make the most of the possession earned high up the pitch but they have demonstrated enough selfless cohesion to win the ball back in dangerous areas.

While Leeds have shown squalls of promise during Marsch's brief reign - they have the same Premier League record as Chelsea since the sides met in May (W2 D2) - Tuchel's team should have enough to outwork and outwit their upcoming hosts.

Prediction: Leeds 0-1 Chelsea
