Dejan Kulusevski has tested positive for Covid-19, making him a doubt for Sweden's Euro 2020 campaign.

The Juventus forward has enjoyed a mixed season but would have been a shoo-in to feature prominently at the tournament. After hitting double figure goals on loan at Parma during the 2019/2020 season he returned to Turin last summer and made 47 appearances in all competitions last term.

His performances were enough to see him featured in 90min's Our 21 series, which details the best young players at Euro 2022.

As one of Sweden's brightest sparks his positive test is serious blow to their chances with Zlatan Ibrahimovic already ruled out through injury.

The coronavirus case was confirmed by national team doctor Anders Valentin in a press conference, as reported by SVT Sport. Kulusevski is said to have woken up with a cold and later in the day he tested positive for Covid-19. No one else in the camp has returned a positive test and Sweden will continue training as normal.

Kulusevski will be tested again in three days, but he is a serious doubt for his team's opening game against Spain on Monday 14 June, If he cannot play Watford's Ken Sema, Krasnodar's Viktor Claesson or former Sunderland winger Sebastian Larsson could take his place. All three would represent a significant downgrade.

Ironically, Spain have also had a coronavirus outbreak in their camp. Captain Sergio Busquets is a doubt for the Sweden game after contracting Covid-19, although all other players and staff have since been given the all clear.

Joining the pair in Group E are Poland and Slovakia who are also set to face off on Monday. The group is a difficult one to predict, though most agree that Spain should stroll to top spot. All three of the other sides will be confident of progressing alongside them.
