Dani Alves is expected to sign a one-year contract extension at Barcelona in the near future after impressing Xavi during his second stint at the club.

Barça confirmed that Alves would be returning on a short-term deal in November, though he could not be registered until January. Since then he has featured fairly regularly in domestic competitions, registering a goal and two assists in just four La Liga appearances.

Alves' deal is currently set to expire at the end of the season but according to Sport, he is likely to extend his stay at the Camp Nou soon. Xavi has been extremely pleased by the Brazilian's displays so far and contact will be made with the right-back's representatives soon.

Alves is currently on the minimum wage allowed by La Liga regulations and should be in line for a pay increase when Barça offer their one-year contract.

This is not the only business that La Blaugrana are looking to complete in the coming months either. The La Liga side are also keen on sealing a double swoop for Chelsea's Andreas Christensen and Cesar Azpilicueta, both of whom's contracts expire at the end of the season, and a free move for Ajax's Noussair Mazraoui is also on the cards.

90min understands that AC Milan's Franck Kessie, who is also set to become a free agent in the summer, is deep in talks over a switch to Camp Nou.

Barcelona have been linked with moves for the likes of Jose Gaya and Erling Haaland too, though Manchester City, Real Madrid and Bayern Munich will all rival them for the latter's signature.
