Barcelona are leading Juventus in the race to sign Franck Kessie this summer, 90min understands, with the midfielder's current contract at AC Milan set to expire in June.
Kessie has been a key member of Stefano Pioli's resurgent Milan side in recent years, scoring 20 goals in the last two seasons, but has been unresponsive to talks over a new deal at San Siro.
As such, the 25-year-old has been the subject of intense interest from across Europe. Tottenham, Juventus and Barcelona were all known to have had their eyes on Kessie, and now we understand that the latter have shot to the front of the queue.
90min have learned that talks between the Blaugrana and Kessie's representatives are progressing well.
While Tottenham's long-term interest has ended altogether due to the signing of Rodrigo Bentancur in January, Juventus have not given up hope of luring the midfielder to Turin. The Old Lady have kept a close eye on Kessie's situation in recent months, and even held talks with the player's representatives recently.
What puts a spanner in Juve's talks with Kessie is their conversations with Paul Pogba's agent.
As 90min reported recently, Pogba is yet to make any sort of decision on his future despite Man Utd, Juventus, Real Madrid and Paris Saint-Germain all being willing to give him a bumper contract.
Real Madrid and PSG are seen as the favourites to sign the midfielder, but Juve cannot be ruled out of the race entirely. Pogba is said to have loved playing under Massimiliano Allegri at Juve before he made the move to Manchester United.
The best spell on Pogba's career was undoubtedly at Juve, as the midfielder won four Scudetti, two Coppa Italia titles and was even named in the UEFA Team of the Year for the first and only time in his career.
