Aleksandar Mitrovic has poked fun at Brentford's Ivan Toney after getting the last laugh in Fulham's 3-2 victory on Saturday.

In one of the games of the weekend, Brentford looked to have secured a 2-2 draw when Toney, whose Championship goal record was broken by Mitrovic last season, netted an equaliser which he celebrated by mimicking the Serb's celebration.

He wasn't the last person to pull off that move, however, as Mitrovic netted in stoppage time - his third goal in three Premier League games this year. Not only did he whip out his celebration, but he used his press time after the game to keep the feud with Toney alive.

“Everybody has idols,” he said of Toney. “He used to play with me in Newcastle and he was my boy. My idol was [Alan] Shearer and I am probably his idol.”

Back on a more serious note, Mitrovic also took the time to respond to his many critics who doubted whether the 27-year-old, who scored 43 Championship goals last season but had just 24 Premier League goals in his first 104 appearances, could hang in England's top flight.

"I don't care about the critics," he said. "I always know I belong here. I am enjoying the Premier League and I am happy.

"Helping the team and working hard is all I am looking for. The critics are always going to have different opinions. I don't really care about it."
