Wolves are open to taking players from Manchester City in a prospective deal that could take Matheus Nunes to the Etihad, sources have confirmed to 90min.

City made an approach for Nunes last week upon backing away from a bid to land West Ham United midfielder Lucas Paqueta. But that initial £47m bid was rejected by Wolves.

Lines of communications between the clubs have remained open and talks have continued. Wolves are holding out for £60m for a player they paid £42m for last year when he arrived from Sporting CP.

Nunes has made it clear to Wolves that he wants to join City and does not want to miss this opportunity. During talks, Wolves have intimated that they would be interested in taking players as part of the deal as they already admire a couple of members of Pep Guardiola's squad.

James McAtee and Tommy Doyle are the players in question, appealing to new Wolves boss Gary O'Neil. Ideally Wolves would take both, but City are not currently willing to let McAtee leave on a permanent basis - it is understood, however, they would allow the 20-year-old to go on loan.

Sources have confirmed to 90min that a number of clubs have contacted City about a prospective loan deal for McAtee, including Ajax, Burnley, Leicester, West Brom and Sheffield United. The youngster spent last season on loan with the latter, helping them back into the Premier League.

Doyle was also at Sheffield United on loan last season. City are open to a permanent transfer.
