Wolves will reportedly look to make Real Betis midfielder William Carvalho the latest member of their Portuguese cohort this summer, joining a number of Premier League clubs in his pursuit.

Carvalho has long been linked with the English top-flight, but the move has never quite materialised. He signed for Betis in 2018 after seven years with Sporting CP, and has made 52 appearances in all competitions so far at the base of the Verdiblancos' midfield.

A whole host of Premier League teams are set to battle for Carvalho this summer, with Tottenham, Leicester and West Ham all interested according to Diario de Sevilla, via A Bola.

Wolves, however, are determined to bring the defensive midfielder to the club and are trying to make strides ahead of their competitors to secure the Portugal international.

There is no agreement as of yet, but Sporting CP are set to receive 25% of whatever Carvalho is eventually sold on for, as per an agreement in the terms of their deal.

Nuno Espirito Santo has transformed Wolves into one of the Premier League's top sides and has done so with the help of a plethora of Portuguese talent throughout the club. Since taking the reins in 2017, Nuno has recruited Rui Patricio, Ruben Neves and Joao Moutinho among others, to become key pieces in the jigsaw at Molineux.

Wolves have continued to sign top talents in a bid to cement their status as a side continually pushing for European football. William Carvalho would add significant experience and talent to an already exciting midfield.

Carvalho has been capped 59 times by the Portugal national team so far, and was a part of the squad that won Euro 2016 and the 2019 Nations League, starting both finals.

While he seems the ideal candidate for Nuno's Wolves, interest from the likes of Tottenham and Leicester will be tempting, while West Ham would ensure that Carvalho is a crucial figure in their starting XI.

If the rumours are to be believed, Carvalho will hope that his move to English football isn't harmed by the ongoing coronavirus pandemic.
