Wolves are considering the future of manager Bruno Lage following their latest Premier League defeat, 90min understands.

The Wanderers were beaten 2-0 by fellow strugglers West Ham on Saturday night to leave them 18th in England's top flight with just one win from their opening eight games.

That poor form has led to Wolves doing the early groundwork on potential managerial successors, 90min understands, but the club is also understanding of the issues Lage has had to deal with so far this season.

New striker signing Sasa Kalajdzic suffered a long-term injury on his debut, while Raul Jimenez continues to struggle with persistent fitness issues. Diego Costa is still building up his fitness after signing as a free agent.

Those injuries have left Wolves short of options up front and the club's hierarchy accepts they have left Lage short with his squad options. Goncalo Guedes played centrally alongside supporting attackers Daniel Podence and Pedro Neto but couldn't make an impact during the 2-0 defeat.

The Portuguese manager suffered another injury blow when Neto went down midway through the first half and was replaced by Adama Traore.

On Neto's injury, Lage said: "Let's see, I think it was a bad injury. Adama also comes back from an injury and his programme was to play just 30 minutes.

"Let's see what can happen, I don't have all the information but let's see what can happen."

Wolves are next in action when they travel to London to face Chelsea on Saturday.
