Jack Grealish missed Manchester City's 5-1 victory over Fulham on Saturday after suffering a thigh injury.

Grealish had started City's two previous Premier League games but was surprisingly omitted from the squad for the Fulham game, which was led by assistant Juan Manuel Lillo as manager Pep Guardiola continues to recover from back surgery.

City confirmed that Grealish had picked up an unspecified injury which the Manchester Evening News later reported as a thigh problem.

While there is no firm timeline for Grealish's recovery, reports suggest the City winger's problem is not particularly serious, meaning he should be back in time for the team's next game against West Ham United on September 16.

However, the immediate concern for Grealish revolves around his involvement with England during the international break.

Grealish was included in Gareth Southgate's squad for the upcoming fixtures against Ukraine and Scotland but now faces a race against time to prove his fitness ahead of linking up with the Three Lions.

After the Fulham game, Lillo told reporters: "It’s going to be difficult for Jack to make it [back for the international break], but I’m not a doctor and it will be difficult for me to explain."
