West Ham United host their fierce London rivals Tottenham Hotspur in the Premier League on Wednesday evening.

The Hammers hauled themselves off the foot of the table as their first (deflected) goal of the season earned their first points of the campaign against a listless Aston Villa. A lively Nottingham Forest side had more possession and territory than Spurs but became the latest team to succumb to Tottenham's razor-sharp counter-attacking edge.

Here's everything you need to know about one of the most hotly contested capital derbies.

West Ham team news

Ben Johnson's tricky individual start to the season continued as the moved-around youngster was forced off with a tight hamstring during last Sunday's 1-0 win. Aaron Cresswell also flagged a problem with his groin which David Moyes blamed on the swift turnaround between fixtures.

While Nayef Aguerd is another month away from returning, Craig Dawson is unlikely to feature as soon as Wednesday though he is nearing full recovery from a thigh problem.

West Ham vs Tottenham score prediction

West Ham's return to winning ways was not a cathartic show of strength. Moyes' side had one shot in the opening 55 minutes and benefitted from the weaknesses of their opponent as much as their own qualities.

If the Hammers cede the initiative to Spurs they may be able to frustrate their visitors. However, Antonio Conte's idiosyncratic style can so regularly lure even stubborn opposition onto Spurs, opening up space in transition which their clinical front line often exploits. Against a West Ham still searching for their best form, Spurs could extend their best start to a Premier League season in 13 years this weekend.

Prediction: West Ham 1-2 Tottenham
