West Ham United believe they have reached an agreement in principle with Jarrod Bowen over a new long-term contract, sources have confirmed to 90min.

Bowen has made a great start to the 2023/24 season, following on from West Ham's successful Europa Conference League run at the end of last term.

In eight Premier League and Europa League games, Bowen has registered five goals and two assists, forcing his way back into Gareth Southgate's England squad for the October internationals.

90min first reported last year that the Irons were intent on tying the forward down to a new deal, but negotiations have dragged on into this season.

In mid-September, 90min revealed that West Ham were hopeful of coming to an agreement with the 26-year-old and his camp.

And 90min now understands the club believe they and Bowen have now agreed terms in principle over a new deal at the London Stadium.

West Ham have been eager to wrap up talks prior to the January transfer window. Bowen's current contract expires in 2025 and they have been desperate to avoid letting him enter the last year-and-a-half of that deal without a new one in place.

Liverpool have Bowen near the top of a shortlist of potential replacements for Mohamed Salah should he depart the club, with the Egyptian still a marquee target for the Saudi Pro League.

Jurgen Klopp in particular is a fan of Bowen, but the east Londoners hope a new contract will help fend off any advances from the Reds.

Since signing from Hull City in January 2020, Bowen has scored 45 goals in 165 games for West Ham and has played a starring role in their rise back to prominence under David Moyes.
