West Ham progressed to the fourth round of the FA Cup with a 2-0 home win over fellow Premier League side Leeds on Sunday afternoon.

The first half an hour was a drab affair with chances at a premium. West Ham looked more likely to score with Jarrod Bowen having an effort well-cleared and Michail Antonio also going close.

Meanwhile, Leeds' opening exchanges were summed up when Lewis Bate was presented with a free volley inside the box but fluffed his lines, miskicking badly.

Shortly after this West Ham finally brought some excitement by opening the scoring in scrappy circumstances.

Michail Antonio carried the ball into the final third before finding Nikola Vlasic on the edge of the box. The Croatian managed to spin his marker and although his initial, stabbed effort was saved the ball broke to Manuel Lanzini, who powered home. Following a lengthy VAR check for offside, the goal was confirmed.

In the second half West Ham threatened to extend their lead but were let down by a lack of clinical edge in the final third.

20 minutes from time Leeds spurned an excellent chance to draw level when Mateusz Klich flashed an effort across goal and both Daniel James and Jack Harrison failed to convert.

After this scare West Ham again showcased their ability to see out victories, limiting the Whites to half-chances. Just before the referee blew for full time the Hammers made it 2-0, latching onto Antonio's through ball and rolling it under the rushing Meslier.

1. Goalkeeper & defenders

Alphonse Areola (GK) - 6/10 - Rarely called into action. On the rare occasions he was, he did well.

Ryan Fredericks (RB) - 6/10 -
Solid but did not do too much on his rare ventures forward.

Craig Dawson (CB) - 8/10 -
Easily dealt with the inexperienced Sam Greenwood. Composed after the break too.

Issa Diop (CB) - 7/10 -
Unflappable in possession, even with Leeds pressing with real intensity.

Ben Johnson (LB) - 7/10 -
Another mature display from the youngster. Dealt with Leeds' forward easily, even when Raphinha was introduced.

2. Midfielders

Declan Rice (CM) - 7/10 - Another imposing midfield display. Did a bit of everything but did have a few wayward efforts from range.

Tomas Soucek (CM) - 6/10 - Worked well with Rice to help West Ham control the middle. Full of running.

Manuel Lanzini (AM) - 7/10 - Took his goal nicely, even if it was a fairly straightforward chance.

3. Forwards

Jarrod Bowen (RW) - 8/10 - Had an effort cleared off the line in the first half. He was always getting in behind and trying to make things happen. Deserved his goal.

Michail Antonio (ST) - 7/10 - Tore Leeds to shreds in the first half. They just could not live with him.

Nikola Vlasic (LW) - 7/10 - His clever spin created West Ham's opener. Progressed the ball stylishly at times. Encouraging to see him play well with the Hammers set to be missing Said Benrahma for some time.

4. Substitutes

Pablo Fornals (AM) - 6/10

Arthur Masuaku (RW) - N/A

Andriy Yarmolenko (ST) - N/A

Illan Meslier (GK) - 5/10 - Claimed crosses confidently. Unlucky for both goals.

Luke Ayling (RB) - 5/10 - Kept plugging away for an hour before being hauled off as Leeds changed shape.

Diego Llorente (CB) - 6/10 - Leeds' best defender. He read the game expertly and distributed effectively.

Leo Fuhr Hjelde (CB) - 5/10 - Struggled to deal with Antonio with the Hammers frontman spinning with ease.

Junior Firpo (LB) - 6/10 - Battled hard and even got some openings on the final third on occasion. Final ball was not great.

6. Midfielders

Robin Koch (CM) - 5/10 - One of the few Leeds player who did not consistently give away the ball. Did not do too much with it mind you.

Lewis Bate (CM) - 4/10 - Missed a rare, decent chance for his side just before West Ham opened the scoring. Looked a bit lightweight in midfield.

Mateusz Klich (CM) - 6/10 - Tasked with being Leeds' advanced midfielder. It really did not happen for him, but he did carve out one gilt-edged opportunity after the break.

7. Forwards

Jack Harrison (RW) - 4/10 - A couple of moments but largely drifted in and out of the game. Missed a golden chance to equalise.
