Vinicius Junior won't play for Real Madrid until their Champions League quarter-final tie with Manchester City after picking up a suspension in La Liga.

The Brazilian winger was a key figure in Los Blancos' 4-2 victory over Osasuna on Saturday night, scoring twice while Dani Carvajal and Brahim Diaz also got on the scoresheet. He was singled out for praise by manager Carlo Ancelotti after the game.

The Italian told reporters: "He's a decisive player, in everything he contributes. He could have scored more goals, but he's effective in everything.

"He has a lot of pressure, which he must control a little more. I didn't say anything special to him, just that he played an extraordinary game.

"He's going to improve because he is a serious, humble and intelligent boy."

However, Vinicius is a regular target for rival teams, often receiving rough treatment from opposition defences, and the 23-year-old picked up his fourth yellow card in as many games on Saturday, bringing up a fifth booking in Spain's top flight.

That yellow, which was brandished by referee Juan Martinez Munuera for dissent, means Vinicius will not be available for Madrid's first game after the March international break, which is a clash with Athletic Club on Sunday 31 March.

The Brazilian will, however, be able to feature in the first leg of Madrid's quarter-final tie with Manchester City in Europe a little over a week later in April.

Madrid extended their lead at the top of La Liga to ten points with victory over Osasuna, capitalising as title rivals Girona were later beaten 1-0 away at Getafe.

Los Blancos will have Jude Bellingham available after the March international break having served his two-game ban for a dismissal against Valencia earlier this month.
