The Vancouver Whitecaps have re-signed goalkeeper Isaac Boehmer through the 2022 Major League Soccer season with club options from 2023 to 2025.

The 20-year-old signed his first MLS contract with the club in August 2020 as a homegrown player. Almost two years later, the Canadian native still awaits his league debut.

"Isaac is a good young goalkeeper who works hard, continues to grow, and will also see minutes with our MLS NEXT Pro team,” sporting director Axel Schuster said in a release.

“We have a great group of young Canadian keepers, and we will add some additional experience to the group in the coming weeks.”

Last year, the goalkeeper was loaned to Canadian Premier League side Pacific FC, making one regular-season start as they won the North Star Shield.

As of right now, Thomas Hasal stands as the team’s lead goalkeeper after Vancouver traded Canadian international Maxime Crepeau to Los Angeles FC.

Last season, the Whitecaps ended the season in sixth place on the Western Conference table before losing in the first round of playoffs against Sporting Kansas City.

Now, the team is set to kick off the 2022 season on February 26 when visiting the Columbus Crew with the MLS Cup in mind.
