The United States men’s national team emerged from the group stage after a 1-0 victory over North American rival Canada, gaining the lead with a record-breaking goal by Shaq Moore 20 seconds into the match.
Despite victories in the tournament’s first matches, few players have impressed head coach Berhalter and demonstrated a special capacity. Gianluca Busio and Daryl Dike are currently the two to watch out for as the young MLS players attempt to gain international attention.
The American side faced several injuries during the tournament’s group stage, but most recently lost Walker Zimmerman to a hamstring strain for the entirety of the Gold Cup. New England Revolution defender Henry Kessler and San Jose Earthquakes forward Cade Cowell are set to join the team to replace those injured.
