With the dust barely settled following their 3-0 defeat to Manchester United - or the El Sackico, as we should probably call it now - Nuno Espirito Santo was given his marching orders by Tottenham.

His dismissal came just four months after he was handed the reigns in north London, with his spell being occasionally magic, often drab and more frequently dreadful.

What else were we really expecting, though. He was the 125th name on Daniel Levy's shortlist to replace Jose Mourinho last summer.

It was hard to find defenders of Nuno's work on social media in the immediate aftermath of his sacking.

Most Tottenham fans were of the opinion that although he is a nice man with a terrific beard, he was never up for the task at hand.

What was far funnier than Spurs fans' reactions was the outpouring of disappointment from the club's rivals after Nuno's departure was confirmed.

Some Manchester United supporters were particularly devastated, as they had expected Ole Gunnar Solskjaer to be the next manager fired. Things only got worse when Antonio Conte - the man many United fans want to see in the dugout - began to be strongly linked with the Spurs job.

Bizarrely, not all Spurs fans were happy about the Conte links.

Perhaps this so-called 'Tottenham DNA' consists entirely of a entrenched aversion to winning silverware?

Others were just annoyed about the board making another glaring error in appointing Nuno in the first place.
