Twitter reacts as Tottenham beat Man City thanks to record-breaking Harry Kane goal

Manchester City missed a glorious chance to close the gap at the top of the Premier League on Sunday, succumbing to a record-breaking Harry Kane goal in north London.
Prior to kick off all the talk was about Pep Guardiola's rather odd team selection.
The main point of contention for many was the fact that the best footballer Man City have on their books, Kevin De Bruyne, was on the bench.

Something is definitely going wrong at Manchester City.

Inside the opening 15 minutes, Tottenham took the lead through Harry Kane. The forward coolly slotted past Ederson after some great pressing from Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg/terrible play from Rodri on the edge of his own box, to make it 1-0 and, more importantly, become Tottenham's all-time top goalscorer.
267 goals for Tottenham. 200 goals in the Premier League.
Pretty damn impressive.
#thfc Incredible noise as Kane celebrates breaking the record. Great moment. pic.twitter.com/4bIeDd5Ldk

HARRY KANE, GREATEST GOAL SCORER IN SPURS HISTORY!

Tottenham were largely able to keep City at arm's length for the majority of the rest of the half, with the visitors struggling to not just pass the ball square and pointlessly instead of trying to find one of Erling Haaland's many runs in behind.
Despite that, City did manage to create one chance before the end of the first half, as Riyad Mahrez hit the post after cutting in from the right.
Riyad Mahrez hits that so well, maybe too well and the balls cracks off the bar. So close to 1-1. An overload in the box from Manchester City and that catches Tottenham cold. Hits it so sweetly before it cracks the bar and bounces away.Take a bit of power out of that and it’s 1-1

45+1. OFF THE BAR!!

Mahrez fires with his left foot but his effort is rebounded off the woodwork 😫

The second half proved to play out in quite a similar fashion to the first. Manchester City had all of the ball, but Tottenham looked more the more threatening when in the final third.
While Hugo Lloris remained a surprising passenger, Ederson was called into action a few times following quick counter attacks from Spurs.
Lloris launches it long to start a three-on-three break. Son shapes a left-footed curler from 20 yards that is pushed away to his right by Ederson. Kane collects the ball and picks out the supporting Hojbjerg, who drags a shot wide from the edge of the box.

[77'] Ederson prevents it from being 2-0. Son on the counter-attack.

Things turned in Man City's favour in the final minutes of the game when Cristian Romero received his marching orders for a typically full-blooded tackle Jack Grealish.
It was the one trillionth free kick that Grealish won during the game.
That's a shame because he was minutes away from my POTM award https://t.co/GjAlcLuWgr

The only thing that Jack Grealish consistently does is win free kicks.

For a £100m player, you'd expect a bit more than just a player who wins you free kicks.
RED CARD Cristian Romero is shown a second yellow card and Spurs will have finish the final minutes a man down

Spurs 1-0 Man City (87 mins) #TOTMCI
In the end however, the sending didn't really make a massive difference. Tottenham remained tight at the back, City remained tepid in attack, and ultimately the home side deserved all three points.
Manchester City lose ground in the title race as record breaking Harry Kane spoils their afternoon. 🙃

They have still not won, let alone scored a goal at Tottenham's new stadium! 😱 pic.twitter.com/4rKBRrAcDd
