Bayern Munich picked up a comfortable 2-0 victory over Union Berlin on Sunday evening.

A confident penalty from Robert Lewandowski was dispatched powerfully to give Die Roten the lead before half-time. And having dominated possession throughout the game, right-back Benjamin Pavard wrapped up the win with a header from Joshua Kimmich's corner to secure the three points.

The win means Bayern maintain their four-point lead on top of the Bundesliga, ahead of title rivals Borussia Dortmund.

Here's how Twitter reacted to the game...

Having watched their title rivals Borussia Dortmund romp to a 4-0 victory over Schalke 04, the pressure was on the defending champions to respond with a strong performance of their own...

But it was the hosts who made the better start, with sharp movement and intensity in closing down Die Roten...

But Thomas Müller flicked in a header from Serge Gnabry to put the visitors in front. Or so he thought he had, as he was ruled to have been offside and the goal was disallowed after a VAR check.

But they wouldn't be denied for long, when Neven Subotić fouled Leon Goretzka in his own box to give Die Roten a spot-kick. Step forward Robert Lewandowski, who powerfully drilled the ball past Rafał Gikiewicz to put his team a goal up.

It would prove to be the decisive goal that separated the two sides at half time, with Union Berlin's good display undone by Lewandowski's penalty.

Yet an uneventful second half left many fans unsatisfied, and the number of substitutions made with 20 minutes to go had some hoping for an exciting end.

But a header from Benjamin Pavard got the all-important second goal that seemed to wrap up the win for Bayern.

That proved to be the final act of what ended up being a comfortable victory for Bayern, as they maintained their four-point lead on top of the Bundesliga.
