Trent Alexander-Arnold is confident "there's no stopping" Manchester City in the Premier League title race, with the Liverpool full-back going as far as to say it's already "game over" for Arsenal.

The 24-year-old has found form after shifting to an inverted midfield role when in possession, having endured a tough first six months of the season as Liverpool's own title ambitions fell by the wayside.

Criticised for his defending, Alexander-Arnold has answered his critics at the other end of the pitch, providing a number of assists for Liverpool to help give them an outside chance of finishing inside the top four.

Liverpool have been Man City's main title challengers for three out of the last four seasons, ending their 30-year wait for a top-flight title by winning the 2019/20 Premier League.

Arsenal have been the team to take up the mantle this season, topping the table for large periods, but they've now surrendered their position at the top to City - Pep Guardiola's side have won nine games in a row including a 4-1 win over the Gunners at the Etihad Stadium.

As far as Alexander-Arnold is concerned, that defeat, along with City's overall mindset at this time of the season, means the title race is already over.

"League's obvious now and I've said it for a while, if City are even close, if they smell blood at Christmas, New Year, it's game over really," Alexander-Arnold said promoting Red Bull's new 4v4 football event and Red Bull Four 2 Score. "There's no stopping them once they start winning and now at this point I'd be surprised if they drew a game.

"I think it's just got to be mindset, I think it's just the messaging because they don't even, like, go behind in games at this point. There's no messing around, there's no scares, there's no ups and downs.

"Arsenal was exciting because they were dropping points, but in an exciting way whereas City, I don't even know to describe it. It's just like it's a juggernaut."

Manchester City's nine Premier League wins in a row

Manchester City's last slip-up in the Premier League came back on February 18, when Chris Wood netted a late equaliser for Nottingham Forest at The City Ground.

Since then, Bournemouth, Liverpool, Southampton and Arsenal have all been on the end of 4-1 hammerings, with West Ham also beaten by a margin of three goals.

Leicester were comfortably dispatched at the Etihad 3-1 - it could and probably would have been more if Guardiola hadn't taken Erling Haaland, Kevin De Bruyne and Rodri off before the hour mark - while Fulham were beaten 2-1 at Craven Cottage.

High-flying Newcastle gave City a good game, losing 2-0, and Crystal Palace, resurgent under Roy Hodgson, went down by the odd goal at Selhurst Park.
