Tottenham Hotspur scout Jeff Vetere has resigned from his post after revealing one of the club's key transfer targets in a TV interview.

Vetere, who was only appointed back in September 2022 by managing director of football Fabio Paratici, gave an interview in Colombia in which he identified highly-rated Nacional goalkeeper Kevin Mier as someone Spurs are watching closely.

Sitting down with Win Sports TV, Vetere said of Mier: "I see a goalkeeper who does not lack anything to cross the pond. We are looking because it is our task to see who the best youngsters are for international football.

"Taking advantage of my stay in Colombia, I took the opportunity to go there [Nacional] and meet a goalkeeper who is important to me.

"I think he’s going to play for the national side soon. He has things, for me, they are not normal for a boy of his age. I was surprised by his confidence and his handling of the ball."

The Daily Mail report that Tottenham weren't happy with Vetere openly discussing the club's recruitment strategy and reviewed his probationary period following such inflamattory misconduct.

The 57-year-old chose to leave his role before this process was complete, though it was expected that he would have been ousted regardless as several people in the Tottenham hierarchy were unhappy with his arrival in the first place.

Vetere was previously part of the recruitment teams at Newcastle, Real Madrid, West Ham, Aston Villa, Charlton and Birmingham.
