Tottenham Hotspur are continuing their search for a new head coach and have held an initial round of talks with Feyenoord's Arne Slot, 90min understands.

Spurs are on the hunt for a permanent successor to Antonio Conte following his exit at the end of March. He was initially replaced by assistant coach Cristian Stellini, but a poor run of results saw him sacked as well. Ryan Mason is now in interim charge until the end of the season.

A largely miserable campaign in N17 is nearing an end, with European qualification still in Tottenham's hands.

Behind the scenes, the club have held talks with several candidates for the head coach's job. Luis Enrique sat down with Spurs last month but negotiations have not advanced, while Tottenham recently walked away from discussions with Julian Nagelsmann.

90min has long reported of Tottenham's interest in Dutchman Slot, though Feyenoord's involvement in the Eredivisie title race complicated matters in recent weeks. But with the Rotterdam side now confirmed as the new champions of the Netherlands, Spurs have made contact with him and initial talks have taken place.

Tottenham are insistent that they do not have a number one candidate and are talking to others about the role, though Slot is definitely on their shortlist.

Slot, who turns 45 in September, also led Feyenoord to the final of the Europa Conference League last season in his first year in charge at De Kuip, falling to Jose Mourinho's Roma at the last hurdle.

90min understands the likes of Ruben Amorim, Marco Silva, Michael Carrick, Brendan Rodgers and Graham Potter are other names being considered by Spurs.

Burnley's Vincent Kompany and Bayer Leverkusen's Xabi Alonso were targets but have reaffirmed their commitment to their current clubs in recent weeks.

Interim boss Mason has also insisted he wants the job on a full-time basis.

Meanwhile, 90min reported earlier this week Tottenham are simultaneously conducting a search for a new director of football, with Brentford duo Phil Giles and Lee Dykes among the names under consideration.
