Newcastle United striker Alexander Isak has been named the PFA Vertu Motors Premier League Fans' Player of the Month for March.

The Sweden international took home the award after gaining 28% of the public vote, seeing off competition from Mohamed Salah, Solly March and Tyrone Mings, as well as Arsenal duo Bukayo Saka and Gabriel Martinelli.

The Magpies were victorious two of their three games in March to embark on a five-match winning streak, with summer signing Isak stepping up on his return to fitness and finding the net three times.

Isak scored the opening goal in Newcastle's 2-1 win against Wolves at St James' Park, before truly becoming a Geordie hero on the eve of the international break.

Eddie Howe's side went a goal down to Nottingham Forest on a bitter Friday night at the City Ground, but Isak scored twice - including a penalty deep into second-half stoppage time - to secure all three points and maintain Newcastle's top-four push.

Isak has continued his hot run of form into April and is likely to be a contender for this month's award as well.
