The West Ham Lineup That Should Start Against Sheffield United
FOUR MONTHS.
That's how long we now have until another international break ruins all of our lives, which is something that we would commonly refer to as a 'win'.
On the subject of winning, that's exactly what David Moyes' West Ham achieved last time out, stumbling over the line against courageous Fulham thanks to Tomas Soucek's injury-time goal.
The win continued the Hammers good run of recent form, so should any changes be made ahead of the trip to Sheffield United? Here's your answer...
1. Goalkeeper & Defenders
Lukasz Fabianski (GK) - One of West Ham's strengths is in their goalkeeping department, given Republic of Ireland number one Darren Randolph is the club's understudy. But he won't be needed here, only Fabianski will.
Fabian Balbuena (CB) - Earlier this week, the question was posed around whether or not Issa Diop - a more talented player - should replace Balbuena on the right side of West Ham's back three. Yes is the answer, but not for a tricky away game.
Angelo Ogbonna (CB) - Diop may get a chance if Ogbonna can't shake off a little injury niggle he's been contending with, but Moyes seems to think the Italian is over it. If he is, he starts.
Aaron Cresswell (CB) - A rejuvenated figure now that he's been pushed inside. One of the club's most consistent performers to this point.
2. Wing-Backs & Midfielders
Vladimir Coufal (RWB) - Ryan Fredericks probably feels a bit hard done by, but there's no disputing that Coufal has been a class act since he arrived at the London Stadium. Has given Moyes no reason to rotate him.
Declan Rice (CM) - Scoring your first England goal in midweek can only be good, right? Probably, but West Ham won't want the additional limelight that international success will bring Rice.
Tomas Soucek (CM) - Hasn't been as effective as he was at the back end of last season, but did score a vital winner last time out. Should relish the aerial battle against a very physical Sheffield United side.
Arthur Masuaku (LWB) - Those waiting for a calamitous moment from Masuaku have been left on edge far longer than anticipated. Let's hope it's not George Baldock who can exploit his occasional mind madness.
3. Forwards
Jarrod Bowen (RF) - You get the feeling that Bowen has far more to offer in terms of a goalscoring threat, but you don't mind giving that up when a player gets through as much running as he does. Definitely powered by Duracell.
Sebastien Haller (ST) - West Ham fans would love to see Michail Antonio back starting, but it's likely that will be a bridge too far. Still, he should be in the squad and could be a quality impact sub. That means it's another chance for Haller; one he must take.
Pablo Fornals (LF) - Said Benrahma is waiting in the wings for his first West Ham start, and Haller probably wouldn't mind seeing that happen. But Fornals' non-stop engine will be needed from the off.
