Bayern Munich play rivals Borussia Dortmund on Wednesday night in the DFL-Supercup at the Allianz Arena.

The Bavarians will be looking to add yet another piece of silverware to their bulging cabinet, having already added the Super Cup to the trio of trophies they won last season. Although Hansi Flick's side started the campaign in devastating fashion with an 8-0 demolition of Schalke, Bayern fell to a shock 4-1 defeat at the weekend away to Hoffenheim.

With their players undoubtedly desperate to bounce back by lifting another piece of silverware, here's how Bayern should lineup against Dortmund.

1. Goalkeeper and Defenders

Manuel Neuer (GK) - Even at the age of 34, Neuer has shown in recent games why he is still Bayern's number one. The captain made some vital saves to help Bayern win 2-1 against Sevilla last week in the UEFA Super Cup.

Benjamin Pavard (RB) - Since signing last summer following impressive performances at the 2018 FIFA World Cup, Pavard has become Bayern's first choice right-back, starting all three competitive games this campaign.

Niklas Sule (CB) - Sule is viewed as the ideal replacement for the ageing Jerome Boateng. The 25-year-old German started against Sevilla in the UEFA Super Cup last week as well as the huge Bundesliga win against Schalke.

David Alaba (CB) - Following the rise of left-back Alphonso Davies, Bayern have found a new position for Alaba with the Austrian now tucking in as a left centre-back. Alaba will likely partner Sule in the backline on Wednesday.

Alphonso Davies (LB) - The Canadian has made the left-back position his own following a breakthrough campaign in 2019/20. Davies impressed against some of Europe's best as Bayern were crowned champions of Europe.

2. Midfielders

Joshua Kimmich (CM) - The versatile German has recently filled in at full back, but looks to be set to start in his midfield role alongside Leon Goretzka. The pair's ability allows Bayern to be able to play in a 4-3-3, but also a 4-2-3-1.

Leon Goretzka (CM) - The midfielder has started in all three of Bayern's competitive games so far this season, and is expected to do the same against Dortmund. Goretzka got on the scoresheet in Bayern's 8-0 thrashing of Schalke.

Serge Gnabry (RM) - Three goals for the winger already this season following an eye-catching 2019/20 campaign. Gnabry's performances, particularly against Tottenham and Chelsea in the UEFA Champions League had Arsenal fans ruing their club's decision to let him leave in 2016.

Thomas Muller (CAM) - The German is not your typical attacking midfielder. Instead of a creator, Muller plays just behind the talisman in a second-striker role, which saw him record 14 goals in all competitions last season.

Kingsley Coman (LM) - Summer signing Leroy Sane is Flick's favoured option on the left side, but a knock against Hoffenheim means he will likely not start this one. Flick will utilise his squad depth, with Coman, the Champions League final match-winner, the ideal replacement.

3. Forward

Robert Lewandowski (ST) - The Polish striker is already off the mark this season with a goal and two assists following an incredible 2019/20 Bundesliga campaign which saw him bag 34 goals. Lewandowski has also enjoyed facing Dortmund, scoring 18 goals in 20 appearances against his former side.
