St. Louis CITY SC have bolstered their defense with the signing of Tim Parker from the Houston Dynamo.

The trade was announced immediately following Friday's MLS Expansion Draft, with St. Louis paying the Dynamo $500k in General Allocation Money (GAM) split evenly across the next two seasons.

Parker has been a consistent MLS starter over the past seven seasons, making over 200 combined appearances for the Vancouver Whitecaps, New York Red Bulls, and Houston Dynamo. The 29-year-old is also capped twice at international level for the United States and has Supporters' Shield and Canadian Championship titles to his name.

"He's a role model on and off the field," STL sporting director Lutz Pfannenstiel said on the Expansion Draft live show. "That's exactly the player we wanted. It's a deal for us I think where we can be really happy."

While Parker will join Sweden international Joakim Nilsson and Expansion Draft pick Jon Bell on St. Louis' center-back depth chart, his departure opens up an 11th roster slot for the Dynamo. The Texas side face a busy off-season overhaul as new head coach Ben Olsen looks to make his mark in Houston.

“We continue to make significant changes this offseason to build a stronger club for the future. The resources acquired in this trade will allow us to build a more competitive roster in 2023 and beyond,” Dynamo general manager Pat Onstad said in a club press release.

“Tim played an influential role in our team over the past two seasons and made a positive impact in our community. We wish him well as he starts the next chapter of his career.”
