Son Heung-min has warned Tottenham they must learn from their crushing 4-1 defeat to Leicester City on Saturday.

After opening the scoring through Rodrigo Bentancur early on, Spurs were well and truly battered by their hosts at the King Power Stadium and even saw another goal chalked off for the narrowest of offsides.

It was a real contrast to their 1-0 victory over Manchester City last time out, and Son admitted he could not understand what had happened to Spurs.

“We started quite well and created chances," he said after the game. "After it was 1-1 we conceded a quick second goal and then it was open. It was a difficult game then. Leicester were so clinical, they almost scored every chance. It’s a very disappointing result.

“I think it’s very sad. We knew it was going to be a really hard game. In the Premier League, it’s never an easy game. It showed the Premier League has a high level. I don’t know what I can say, it’s very disappointing.

"I don’t think [it was complacency]. We came with a good feeling after beating City. The first minute we were really on it. We should be ready and learn something.

"Today should be a big lesson for us."

The defeat leaves Tottenham fifth in the Premier League table, having played more games than any of the sides in the top four.

Antonio Conte, who was back on the touchline after gallbladder surgery, must now turn his attention to a tricky meeting with AC Milan in the Champions League on Tuesday, with underperforming players and injury worries likely to wreak havoc with his team selection.
