Sir Dave Brailsford is believed to have met Manchester United players in a series of "one-on-one meetings" as he gets to grips with starting the INEOS revolution at the club.

Formerly the brains behind British Cycling's international success, Brailsford has been a close sporting aide of Sir Jim Ratcliffe for a number of years and was appointed INEOS director of sport in 2021. His early role since the buy-in has included a thorough assessment of football operations.

Ratcliffe and Brailsford made informal introductions to players and staff of both the men's and women's teams back in early January. But with the partial takeover since ratified, the real work has now begun and, according to theTelegraph, the main purpose of Brailsford meeting players individually was to share the INEOS vision for the club and invite observations and questions.

That has included both short and long-term plans and INEOS' intention to restore a winning culture.

Players are described as "feeling optimistic over the future" following these chats. One suggestion is that players and staff are happier with communication and transparency in the new structure.

But the Erik ten Hag's future has not been a subject for discussions, with players asked not to offer their opinion on the Dutchman or his management in a bid not to undermine his position in the final weeks of the season when a Premier League top four finish and the FA Cup are still to play for.

The impact of INEOS' involvement at United is already being felt. The appointment of Omar Berrada as chief executive, poaching him from Manchester City, was sealed long before ratification. Sporting director target Dan Ashworth is currently on gardening leave at Newcastle after informing the club he wishes to join United, while the club is pursuing Jason Wilcox for a technical director role.
