The Seattle Sounders have learned where and when they'll be contesting the 2022 FIFA Club World Cup.

After becoming the first-ever MLS team to win the CONCACAF Champions League back in May with a 5-2 aggregate victory over Liga MX side Pumas, the Rave Green will, naturally, become the first MLS team to contest the Club World Cup.

FIFA president Gianni Infantino has revealed the seven-team tournament will take place between February 1-11 2023, with Morocco identified as the host nation.

Who could the Seattle Sounders face at the Club World Cup?

The draw for the Club World Cup is yet to take place, with the full seven-team field still undecided.

However, the Sounders are one of six teams already qualified, with clashes against European and South American powerhouses certainly on the cards:

  • Real Madrid (UEFA Champions League winners, enter into semi-finals)
  • Flamengo (Copa Libertadores winners, enter into semi-finals)
  • TBD (AFC Champions League winners, enter into second round)
  • Wydad Casablanca (CAF Champions League winners, enter into second round)
  • Seattle Sounders (CONCACAF Champions League winners, enter into second round)
  • Auckland City (OFC Champions League winners, enter into first round)
  • Al Ahly (CAF Champions League runners-up, enter into first round)
