Saudi Pro League director Michael Emenalo has called Mohamed Salah a "personal favourite" amid ongoing rumours linking the Liverpool star with a move to the middle east.

Salah was heavily linked with a move to Saudi Pro League outfit Al Ittihad during the summer transfer window, and 90min understands that Liverpool rejected a verbal offer of around £150m in late August.

The Egyptian was said to be keen on making the move, but a deal could not be agreed between the clubs before the Saudi transfer window closed in early September.

Rumours of a future transfer have rumbled on into the 2023/24 season, however, with the player widely regarded as one of the emerging league's biggest targets for the winter transfer window.

Speaking to Philipp Kessler, the league's director Michael Emenalo added fuel to their rumours by admitting that Salah is one of his favourite footballers in the world and is "welcome any time" to the Saudi Pro League.

"Mo [Salah] is welcomed any time. But nobody is under pressure or forced to come," he said.

"He's a personal favourite of mine. If people want to come and there’s an opportunity to work with clubs in professional manner, we’ll be very happy to have him."

Despite interest, Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp has previously insisted to the press that he has 'no doubts' about Salah's long-term Reds future: "I've never had, and I don't have now, doubts about his future, his commitment to this club.

"Believe me, you can't imagine how much fuss the whole world makes and how calm we are with it. He's our player, he wants to play here and that's it."

Salah has been in fantastic form at the start of the 2023/24 campaign, bagging a quite remarkable 10 goals contributions across all competitions so far as Liverpool look set to mount a genuine Premier League title challenge for the first time since 2021/22.
