It's been a long old slog but England are finally at the end of the their World Cup qualification campaign.

All that stands in the way of the Three Lions' shot at footballing immortality is San Marino, the lowest-ranked FIFA nation on the planet right now.

San Marino team news

San Marino's experienced squad was weakened when David Tomassini was forced off in the first half of their 4-0 defeat to Hungary.

Regular captain Davide Simoncini will also be missing...as he was not called up to the squad in the first place.

England have a long list of absentees ahead of this one. Luke Shaw and Mason Mount never joined up with the squad due to a concussion and dental surgery respectively, while Marcus Rashford has pulled out of contention too.

In addition, Jack Grealish, Raheem Sterling and Jordan Henderson have not travelled to San Marino with Conor Gallagher called up in their stead. He, along with Aaron Ramsdale, is in line for a maiden cap here.

San Marino vs England head-to-head record

Can we just shock you? England have won all seven of the previous meetings between these two sides.

When taking all these games into account, the aggregate score is 42-1 to the Three Lions. That's pretty comprehensive.

San Marino's best-ever result against England is a 5-0 defeat, which they have recorded on three separate occasions.

San Marino vs England score prediction

Southgate may have a long list of injuries to deal with but any notions of this not ending in a huge England win are fanciful.

The Three Lions should be scoring at least five goals here and the main aim will be getting through the contest without picking up any further knocks.

We expect to see a first England strike for either Gallagher or Emile Smith Rowe too.

Prediction: San Marino 0-5 England
