Inter's defence of their Serie A title continues on Sunday when they travel to face Sampdoria.

Simone Inzaghi's side have picked up two wins from two so far this year, firing home an impressive seven goals across those matches as well, and they'll hope for a similar performance against a Sampdoria side who have had a tough start to the season.

The hosts have just one point to their name so far, but a 0-0 draw with Sassuolo and a 1-0 loss to AC Milan is hardly anything to be embarrassed about.

Here's 90min's preview of the game.

Sampdoria team news

Sampdoria remain without Manolo Gabbiadini and Ernesto Torregrossa, but there are hopes that both Albin Ekdal and Bartosz Bereszynski will be fit enough to make it off the treatment table.

That's the extent of Roberto D'Aversa's problems, so he'll be able to turn to his heavy hitters like Mikkel Damsgaard, Fabio Quagliarella and Francesco Caputo.

As is the case across Europe, Inter have to deal with the late returns of a number of South American stars. Matias Vecino, Arturo Vidal, Joaquin Correa and, most importantly, Lautaro Martinez all look set to miss out.

Alexis Sanchez is still dealing with a muscle injury, but fortunately for Inzaghi, new signing Edin Dzeko has bounced back from his issue and can lead the line.

Sampdoria vs Inter predicted lineups

Sampdoria: Audero; Depaoli, Yoshida, Colley, Augello; Candreva, Thorsby, Silva, Damsaard; Quagliarella, Caputo.

Inter: Handanovic; Skriniar, Bastoni, De Vrij; Dumfries, Barella, Calhanoglu, Brozovic, Perisic; Sensi, Dzeko.

Sampdoria vs Inter head-to-head record

As you'd imagine, Inter have the upper hand in the head-to-head records. They've dominated this fixture for a while now.

The two sides last met in May, when Inter put Sampdoria to the sword to the tune of a 5-1 mauling - enacting some revenge for their surprise 2-1 defeat to Claudio Ranieri's men earlier in the campaign.

That shock win for Sampdoria ended a run of six straight losses in this fixture.

Sampdoria vs Inter score prediction

Losing their South Americans is a significant blow for Inter, who feel far less scary without Martinez and Correa in attack.

Inzaghi's men will still come into this one as favourites, but because of their depleted squad, there is a real chance for Inter to slip up here. Sampdoria are far better than their early results might suggest and they'll be looking to take advantage of Inter's weakness.

Will they actually be able to capitalise? That's a whole different matter. Inter should still have enough about them to come out on top.

Prediction: Sampdoria 0-1 Inter
