Brazilian legend Ronaldo feels that there's a huge amount of pressure on Neymar heading into the 2022 World Cup.

With just over a month to go until the tournament kicks off, Brazil are currently the bookies' favourites and many believe they're most likely to lift the trophy.

As has been the case at the past two World Cups, Neymar is their star player and the man the country expects to lead them to glory.

He failed to do so in 2014 and 2018, and Ronaldo says there's a lot of pressure on him to succeed this time around, but feels he has team-mates more capable of helping him now.

"I think the biggest pressure will be on Neymar," he explained, per L'Equipe.

"Of course, I think the team is much more balanced than in previous World Cups, that he will have the help of great players and that he is having a great time right now.

"It's also a source of pride to see the Brazilians triumph here in Europe - Rodrygo, Vinicius and Raphinha this year at Barcelona, who has played very well at Leeds in previous years. It is a great pride to see the Brazilians doing so well."

Ronaldo added, calling on the current group to learn from previous losses and use them as motivation in Qatar, as he and his team-mates did after losing the World Cup final in 1998, prevailing four years later.

"Losing is always very bad, isn't it? But from an early age, we also learn to lose.

"The defeat of 1998 has remained a real thorn in the side of our team until today, but the great thing about football is that you can always pick yourself up and have new opportunities ahead of you. And that's what happened. 2002 came and that was a different story."
