Wrexham co-owner Rob McElhenney has made an ambitious plea to Wales legend Gareth Bale to join up with the newly crowned National League champions.

Bale called time on his career in January this year, six months after leaving Real Madrid for Los Angeles FC, at the age of 33.

Since hanging up his boots, Bale has swapped the football pitch for the golf course (obviously) but he took the time to send a message to McElhenney to congratulate him on his success with Wrexham this season.

Sensing the opportunity of a lifetime, McElhenney shared the video on Twitter alongside the message: "Hey Gareth Bale, let's play golf, where I totally won't spend 4 hours trying to convince you to un-retire for one last magical season."

This is not the first time that McElhenney has teased a link-up with Bale. In the summer of 2022, ahead of the expiry of his Real Madrid contract, a tweet asking where Bale would be playing this season found it's way to McElhenney.

"I've got a few ideas," the It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia star replied.

However, in 2021, Bale was asked whether he would consider joining Wrexham, but he joked that it was 'a bit too far' from his hometown of Cardiff.
