Real Madrid are set to rival Manchester United in the race to hire Mauricio Pochettino, with the Paris Saint-Germain manager expected to leave the French club at the end of the season.

Pochettino has only been at PSG for a little over a year, but there are serious doubts over whether the job suits him. During his first half-season in the capital he failed to lead Les Parisiens to the Ligue 1 title and also faltered in the Champions League.

Although their league form has been much better this campaign, PSG are out of the Coupe de France while their Champions League last 16 tie with Real remains in the balance.

As reported by 90min earlier this month, Pochettino is all but certain to leave the Parc des Princes at the end of the campaign and he will not be short of offers when he does. He is one of the names being seriously considered by Man Utd for when interim boss Ralf Rangnick moves upstairs in the summer.

However, the Daily Mail report that Pochettino could also attract advances from Real. Los Blancos tried to get him on board last summer and were unsuccessful, eventually settling on Carlo Ancelotti.

After a solid start to the season, Ancelotti's position is looking increasingly uncertain. There is a growing disconnect between the Italian and the club's supporters and he cannot turn their Champions League tie against PSG around he could be moved on in the summer.

Florentino Perez remains a huge admirer of Pochettino and he would no doubt attempt to bring him in as manager if he became available.

90min also understands that Tottenham could attempt to lure their former boss back this summer too, with the club far from convinced that Antonio Conte is in it for the long haul.

This news is a blow to United, although the former Spurs man is not the only prospective head coach they are considering. As revealed by 90min last week, Brighton's Graham Potter is the latest name on their shortlist, while interest remains in Ajax's Erik ten Hag and Leicester's Brendan Rodgers.
