Real Madrid have waltzed to the La Liga title this year despite some early season pressure from underdogs Girona, while the Spanish giants are also eyeing a 15th European Cup triumph.

With Carlo Ancelotti at the helm and the likes of Vinicius Junior and Jude Bellingham in devastating form, an impressive double looks a real possibility, and Real have so far been fortunate with injuries heading into final few weeks of the season.

The capital side have seen a number of star players sidelined this term already, several of whom have been missing for a number of months.

  • Issue: Torn ACL
  • Potential return: Start of 2024/25 season

David Alaba became the third Madrid player to sustain an ACL tear this season, with Eder Militao and Thibaut Courtois both returning to action in the spring following lengthy spells out. The Austrian international ruptured his ligaments during the 4-1 win over Villarreal in December and will miss the remainder of the campaign.

The defender has undergone successful knee surgery and is expected to be out of action for eight months. As a result, there are serious doubts regarding his status for Euro 2024.

From a Madrid perspective, Alaba should be fit and firing by the time the start of the 2024/25 season rolls around.
