Real Madrid 4-1 Huesca: Player Ratings as Hazard & Benzema Shine in Routine Win

Real Madrid returned to winning ways with a comfortable 4-1 victory over Huesca, thanks to goals from Eden Hazard, Fede Valverde and a brace from Karim Benzema.

Los Blancos were victorious in last weekend's Clasico against Barcelona, but were at their frail worst in midweek as they surrendered more Champions League points away at Borussia Monchengladbach.

There were no such problems for Zinedine Zidane's side against Huesca, with a confident performance capped by a fine return to the side for Hazard. Beset by injury problems, the Belgian has failed to live up to expectations in the Spanish capital - but will look back fondly on this game after opening the scoring with a wonderful long-range effort.

1. Goalkeeper & Defenders

Thibaut Courtois (GK) - 6/10 - Not one of his busiest days at the office, but could do nothing about David Ferreiro's goal.

Lucas Vazquez (RB) - 7/10 - Lovely cross for Benzema's goal, continuing his transition into an unfamiliar role well.

Eder Militao (CB) 5/10 - For someone who looked so good when he came into Real's side, Militao really does look awful at times. Made a pretty ordinary error which led to Huesca's goal.

Sergio Ramos (CB) 6/10 - Difficult to pinpoint who should have been closer to Ferreiro for Huesca's goal - Ramos or Marcelo - but the bearded wonder will shoulder some of the blame.

Marcelo (LB) - 6/10 - Usual drill for Marcelo; looked good going forward and looked like he could be exposed defensively at any time.

2. Midfielders

Fede Valverde (CM) 8/10 - The technique for his goal was sublime, arrowing an unstoppable drive into the far corner. Easy to understand why Zidane rates him so highly.

Casemiro (CM) - 6/10 - Good Real Madrid performances don't usually require much from Casemiro. This was one such occasion, and he was given a breather with 20 minutes to go.

Luka Modric (CM) - 7/10 - Distribution was wonderful as he sprayed the ball around effortlessly. Looked like he had so much time on the ball, which, to be fair, he did.

3. Forwards

Marco Asensio (RF) 7/10 - One of Zidane's favourites, Asensio put in another steady if unspectacular performance before he was replaced after an hour.

Karim Benzema (CF) - 8/10 - Clinical in front of goal as ever, Benzema was a nuisance throughout and scored a neat second from a tight angle. Capped a fine performance with a tidy close-range header.

Eden Hazard (LF) - 8/10 - Yes, Hazard was short of match fitness so there was no surprise to see him hooked on the hour. But before he departed, showed glimpses of his delightful best - scoring a banger with his left foot, before his neat flick set Real on the way for their third.

4. Substitutes

Ferland Mendy - 6/10 - Sold down the river by Militao's poor header, which ultimately led to Huesca's goal.

Isco - 5/10 - For a man who complains about the lack of minutes he gets, you do wonder if Isco could, you know, do more when he is on the field.

Rodrygo - 6/10 - Steady but not spectacular. Set up Benzema for the fourth, but was selfish late on when he really should have passed.

Vinicius Jr - 6/10 - Introduced for Hazard on the hour, but wasn't afforded a great deal of space. Bit of a luxury player and seemed to know the game was won.
