Rafael Leao has insisted that he'll be "back soon" after suffering an injury just four days before AC Milan's UEFA Champions League semi-final first leg clash with neighbourhood rivals Inter.

I Rossoneri are due to face off against inner-city rivals Inter in what promises to be a classic Champions League semi-final encounter.

Milan booked their place in their first European semi-final since 2007 largely thanks to the stunning form of their star man Leao, whose solo fun in the quarter-final second leg against SSC Napoli culminated in Olivier Giroud's tie-winning goal at the Stadio Diego Armando Maradona Stadium.

Leao's availability for the clash with Inter on Wednesday is doubtful, however, as the forward came off after 11 minutes with a suspected muscle injury in his side's eventual 2-0 win over Lazio at the weekend.

Corriere Della Sera have since reported Leao's chances of being fit for the first leg clash as being 'slim', with the club potentially not risking their star man until the second leg on 16th May.

Since that report, Leao has provided Milanista with some hope, stating on social platform 'The Residency' that he expects to return to action sooner rather than later.

"Don’t worry about my injury, I’ll be back soon. I’ve had treatments and slept all day. I want to play and achieve my goals," wrote Leao.

After an under-par spell around Christmas, Leao has found his best form again in recent weeks, bagging six goal contributions throughout April and earning a place in 90min's Definitive European Player Power Rankings.

Milan are set to face off against an in-form Inter on Wednesday night, with Simone Inzaghi's men recording a number of impressive recent wins over Lazio, Juventus and, most recently, AS Roma. As well as reaching the Champions League semi-finals, Inter have also made it to the Coppa Italia final where they will face off against Fiorentina at the end of May.
