Two of Ligue 1's form sides clash on Sunday evening as league leaders Paris Saint-Germain host third-place Brest.

Sunday's visitors, like PSG, have advanced into the Coupe de France round of 16 at the start of the new year, with four-straight league victories seeing them emerge as surprise contenders for PSG's crown.

Luis Enrique's side, however, are well clear at the summit.

Ligue 1's supreme force are eight points clear at the summit and have made an efficient start to 2024. While arguably somewhat unspectatcular at times, PSG are once again clearly the best side France has to offer. However, Brest's directness and aggression could pose Enrique's side a few problems.

Here's 90min's preview of PSG's upcoming Ligue 1 clash.

PSG team news

Enrique is still without Achraf Hakimi and Kang-in Lee, who are both away on international duty. With Nordi Mukiele potentially on his way to Bayern Munich, there are doubts over the right-back position in Paris.

The Spaniard could retain the back three from PSG's 4-1 Coupe de France victory over US Orleans.

Milan Skriniar, Sergio Rico, Nuno Mendes and Presnel Kimpembe are all out of action.

PSG vs Brest score prediction

PSG's absences will force Enrique to tinker, and the Spaniard will undoubtedly have some concerns heading into Sunday's game despite his side's impressive run of form.

The hosts' measured build-up will be put to the test by Brest's excellent press. Only PSG have achieved more high turnovers in Ligue 1 than Sunday's visitors this season.

PSG's makeshift backline could have some issues against a direct Brest outfit who are awkward to play against. The hosts will have to be at their measured best to claim all three points, so a draw could be in the offing.

Prediction: PSG 1-1 Brest
