The news of Jurgen Klopp's Liverpool departure at the end of the 2023/24 season has hit fans like a ton of bricks and shocked the entire football world in the process.
The German's iconic spell on Merseyside was always going to end at some point but the mid-season announcement came from nowhere as he explained he no longer has the energy to keep giving the job what it needs.
Klopp is set for some well-earned time away from the game after breathing fresh life into one of the biggest clubs in the world and turning them into a winning force again.
Winning has become the norm for Liverpool again under Klopp and the overall Premier League table since his arrival backs that up.
Premier League table since Jurgen Klopp joined Liverpool
Klopp became Liverpool manager on 8 October 2015, taking over from the struggling Brendan Rodgers who was dismissed for a poor start to the season having come so close to winning the Premier League title the previous campaign.
The German, who had left former club Borussia Dortmund earlier that year, arrived with Liverpool sat in tenth place eight games into the 2015/16 season, winning only three matches and scoring just ten goals.
There wasn't immediate success for Klopp at Liverpool in a league sense, but there was clear improvement in terms of style. Liverpool became far more interesting and entertaining to watch and despite still finishing as low as eighth, the Reds were the fifth-highest scorers in the 30 games he was in charge for and they were only six points away from fourth.

As the above table shows, Liverpool have been the second-best team in the Premier League since Klopp became their coach, sitting just 45 points behind Manchester City. That gap is remarkably small given Liverpool have won the league just once under Klopp and Man City have won it five times under Pep Guardiola.
Liverpool have been the closest challengers to Man City for the majority of Klopp's time at the club, but he won't be able to leapfrog Guardiola's side in this particular table before he departs.
Something Liverpool fans can take great pride in is their clear superiority over Manchester United, earning 100 more points than their rivals since Klopp's appointment. The Red Devils have struggled effectively the entire time he has been in charge of Liverpool and the German has dished out some pretty hefty defeats both at Anfield and Old Trafford.
Based on the way the current Premier League season is going, Klopp may well be able to cut the gap slightly to Man City before he leaves and will almost certainly be extending the gap over the teams below.
Liverpool now sit third in the entire Premier League table running from 1992/93-present day, which is one place higher than they were when he took over in 2015.
