Predicting Every Premier League Club's Top Scorer in 2020/21
What we like doing over here at 90min towers is making bold claims. The ones that nobody else makes. The ones that are usually wrong but we make anyway, because it's good craic.
You know, like predicting every Premier League club's top scorer for the 2020/21 season.
Sure, it's hardly bold since nobody really cares, but we're doing it anyway, because why not? Let's dig in.
1. Arsenal - Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang
Next.
2. Aston Villa - Ollie Watkins
He may be new to the league, but with his price tag there is no way he's not starting ahead of Wesley or Mbwana Samatta.
By default, he'll top the charts.
(He is also very good, by the way.)
3. Brighton - Neal Maupay
He scored the most last season, he'll score the most this season. Simple mathematics.
A pacy customer who hates his fellow curly-haired countrymen.
4. Burnley - Chris Wood
How much wood could a Chris Wood wood, if a Chris Wood could wood Wood?
Enough to be Burnley's top scorer next season.
5. Chelsea - Timo Werner
While everyone mulls over which forwards Chelsea will play next season, there is little fear that Timo Werner won't lead the line.
Hakim Ziyech and Kai Havertz feeding him goals? How annoyingly good that will be.
6. Crystal Palace - Eberechi Eze
Eberechi Eze is probably the best signing Crystal Palace have made since Wilfried Zaha.
No experience of the Premier League won't matter when the rest of your team plays like they've never kicked a ball in the division either.
7. Everton - Dominic Calvert-Lewin
With Abdoulaye Doucouré and James Rodriguez providing the service, Dominic Calvert-Lewin is in a great spot to record his best ever season tally.
That is until Carlo Ancelotti signs Gonzalo Higuain, of course.
8. Fulham - Aleksandar Mitrović
Considering he's the only one who can actually score goals in the team, this one goes without saying.
9. Leeds - Patrick Bamford
This is based purely off the fact that Marcelo Bielsa absolutely adores him and Rodrigo hasn't been exactly prolific in recent seasons.
10. Leicester
Age is but a number, and Leicester don't have any other half-decent strikers.
Sorry Kelechi.
11. Liverpool - Mohamed Salah
Falls to the toss of a coin between Mohamed Salah and Sadio Mane, but it landed on heads this time, which was Salah's.
So, yeah.
12. Manchester City - Sergio Aguero
Even if he plays less than Gabriel Jesus, the best striker Manchester City have is Sergio Aguero. Not to mention he needs only half the matches to reach whatever tally his South American teammate accumulates.
13. Manchester United - Anthony Martial
Not an easy one to call this, but based purely off his fine form towards the latter end of last season (and the fact he's now played as a centre-forward), Anthony Martial should be the main man again for Manchester United.
14. Newcastle - Callum Wilson
Newcastle don't score goals.
Callum Wilson scores goals.
Match made in heaven.
15. Sheffield United - Lys Mousset
Heck knows, nobody scored more than six in all competitions last season, so we'll give it to Lys Mousset since he's 8,000 times more mobile than Oli McBurnie.
16. Southampton - Danny Ings
The crazy folk out there might have plumped for Che Adams to burst into life (and challenge for the title), but we're a level-headed bunch who play by the odds.
Which are firmly stacked in Danny Ings' favour.
17. Tottenham - Harry Kane
Doesn't matter what style Jose Mourinho implements at Tottenham, Harry Kane will still score.
He is, also, the only striker they have.
18. West Brom - Charlie Austin
Ummmm, maybe?
He was the joint top scorer last season and has done in the division before. It's a calculated guess.
19. West Ham - Michail Antonio
Apart from Jarrod Bowen, who is showing all the signs of a decent player, Michail Antonio is the only one who hasn't fallen foul to the West Ham curse.
That curse being that anyone who joins the club is immediately a bad, bad player.
20. Wolves - Raul Jimenez
When you can score so many different types of goal like Raul Jimenez, your chances of finding the back of the net regularly increase three-fold.
He also has the service to continue making him a fine marksman.
