Portugal and Switzerland will get Group C underway at Euro 2022 this weekend, with both teams looking to get a positive early result on the board before they each have to face Sweden and Netherlands, who are among the favourites to win the whole tournament.

Portugal were late additions to the Euro party, only getting confirmation of their place once UEFA made a long-awaited decision on the expulsion of Russia.

Neither country has a rich European Championship history, both making their respective debut in 2017 and going home at the end of the group stage.

Portugal vs Switzerland score prediction

Switzerland should have the experience and quality to see off a Portugal side that has had minimal preparation time on top of already being one of the weakest in the tournament.

The Swiss should be able to draw confidence for the tougher games to follow if they can get off to a good start here as expected. Portugal are well aware that just being here is an achievement.

Prediction: Portugal 0-2 Switzerland
