Chelsea striker Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang joined his former Barcelona teammates for their dressing room celebrations in the aftermath of Sunday's 2-1 win against Real Madrid.

Barcelona emerged as the victors from El Clasico after Franck Kessie scored a stoppage time winner at the end of the second half. Real Madrid had led early on through a Ronald Araujo own goal, before Sergi Roberto equalised before the break.

It was a famous win which sent Barça 12 points clear atop La Liga's standings, all but ensuring they will become champions of Spain for the first time since 2019.

Spirits were understandably high in the Barcelona camp following such a momentous win, and they were even joined in the dressing room by Aubameyang.

The Gabon striker joined Chelsea at the end of the summer 2022 transfer window, ending his stay in Catalonia only half a year after signing from Arsenal.

He quickly became a popular figure at Barcelona following his arrival at the start of February 2022, endearing himself with a brace in a 4-0 win at Real Madrid. In total, Aubameyang scored 13 goals in 24 games for Barça.

Aubameyang was persuaded to join the Blues by Thomas Tuchel having previously worked under him at Borussia Dortmund. However, he was sacked just a couple of weeks after Aubameyang's arrival.

Since then, replacement Graham Potter has scarcely called upon the former Gunners skipper and even removed him from their Champions League squad for the knockout stages.

Aubameyang was not part of Chelsea's matchday squad for their 2-2 draw with Everton on Saturday due to a back injury.

He has been linked with a return to Barcelona, though a return to the club this season was not possible due to La Liga's strict registration policy.

Despite only playing eight minutes for them at the start of the campaign, Aubameyang could receive a La Liga winners' medal if Barcelona win the title as he was at one point named in their official squad for the season.
