PFA Vertu Motors League One Fans' Player of the Year - 2022/23 nominees

90min is the home of the PFA Vertu Motors Fans’ Player of the Month Award for the 2022/23 season.

Each month, you can vote for your favourite players across five divisions of English football, for the chance to win incredible prizes, including the opportunity to present the award to the winning player.


The League One campaign is coming to a close, so it's time to start handing out awards.

A remarkable season saw Plymouth and Ipswich seal automatic promotion, edging out Sheffield Wednesday. The relegation places went down to a dramatic last day and it was Cambridge who leap-frogged both Morecambe and Milton Keynes Dons to save themselves.

In such a special season, there are a handful of players who have stood out more than most.

Here are your nominees for the 2022/23 PFA Vertu Motors League One Fans' Player of the Year award.


1. Aaron Collins (Bristol Rovers)

Appearances: 46
Goals: 16
Assists: 11

The Bristol Rovers midfielder is widely considered as one of the best players in League One and he showed why with an outstanding campaign.

Despite his club's struggling at the wrong end of the table, he enjoyed a top season with 16 goals and 11 assists.

2. Alfie May (Cheltenham Town)

Assists: 3

The Robins did well to stay up and Alfie May was crucial to their escape.

May finished with 20 goals - a record return in his career and just shy of 50% of the Robins' total goals.

3. David McGoldrick (Derby County)

Assists: 5

Veteran striker David McGoldrick has shown that he still knows where the back of the net is.

The Irishman's return of over 20 goals this term is the best of his career to date.

4. Conor Chaplin (Ipswich Town)

Assists: 5

A brilliant campaign from Ipswich's Conor Chaplin with over 20 goals for the first time in his career.

Chaplin, who also claimed five assists, notably picked up two monthly PFA Vertu Motors awards.

5. Jonson Clarke-Harris (Peterborough United)

Jonson Clarke-Harris remains brilliant at this level and has showed that once again with 26 goals to his name.

The current captain of Peterborough had led their promotion charge by example in the second-half of the season, with play-off glory still on the agenda.

6. Finn Azaz (Plymouth Argyle)

The Aston Villa loanee has been crucial to Plymouth's Championship success.

Azaz claimed eight goals and eight assists for Steven Schumacher's side.
